Mendocino
Mendocino is a very special place located about halfway between the Oregon Border and San Francisco. It's one of only a few Historical Preservation Districts in the state of California, and sits on a peninsula at the mouth of Big River, one of the few natural running rivers left. Its back is to the Redwoods and its front to the rugged Pacific coastline.
The architectural style of the town is characteristic of pre-1900 building designs that include many Victorians and Main Street America characteristics.
With beautiful scenery in every direction, Mendocino is a pedestrian-scale town that offers a pleasant experience for the visitor. It boasts many fine restaurants and art galleries and is home to good theater and music events throughout the year. Art schools and recreational activities of all types are easily accessible.
