Mendocino Fishing
Many great Mendocino fishing sports can be found in Fort Bragg, located just 10 miles up the coast from Mendocino. The three companies there—Noyo Fishing Center, Telstar Charters and Anchor Charter Boats—are happy to take you out and show you where they are.
The first, Noyo Fishing Center specializes in bottom fishing in waters north of Fort Bragg. Since theirs is the only charter boat visiting these remote areas, great results can be expected. Salmon, halibut and tuna fishing, as well as overnight expeditions in regions of the Lost Coast, where boats are not usually allowed, can also be arranged.
Rockcod, Lingcod, Albacore and Salmon can be found with Telstar Charters, operated by Captain Randy Thornton. According to their regularly-updated blog, many trips leave each visitor with several crabs each in addition to the fish they personally catch, while their photos show an on-boat atmosphere friendly for all ages.
A third option is a trip aboard the Anchor Charter Boats’ Trek II, the largest charter boat in Fort Bragg. Trips for Salmon, Rock Fishing, Crabbing and Tuna Fishing, plus special outings for different kinds of Blue Shark, Thresher Shark, Halibut and Blackcod, can be had.
