Another great option is Ricochet Ridge Ranch, located just twenty minutes away from Mendocino. Starting at 1.5 hours, the length of the rides goes up to 4 hours in a single day and custom outings over multiple days. Like Ross Ranch, they offer forest and beach options; this time at Ten Mile Beach and Jackson State Forest. The terrain here includes bluffs and mossy trails as well as beaches and cattle ranch areas suitable for trotting and cantering. The terrain here is more difficult than average but easier trails for beginners are available upon request. Of course, careful safety precautions, including test rides in their arena before hitting the trails, are always taken.
