Mendocino State Parks

There are 17 California State Parks within the Mendocino limits. The Mendocino State Parks are some of the most memorable you will hike in California due to their duel landscape—coastal views and inland forests. A few of the Mendocino State Parks offers interchanges of mountains and sea, while others boast village views and wildflower-accented trails.

Visit Montgomery Woods State Reserve for towering Sierra and Coast Redwoods. This inland park offers “off the beaten path” trails that are sure to keep you at awe. Russion Gluch State Park and Jug Handle State Reserve are the two Mendocino State Parks complied of forest and coastal landscapes. Both boast sea caves and natural “blow holes,” however, the Russian Gulch State Park is known for its waterfall and Jug Handle is hiked for is natural “staircase” trail where you can clearly see the geologic history of the area as you descend.

While all parks are open to visitors year-round, Van Damme State Park and MacKerricher State Park are the only Mendocino State Parks that allow camping. Van Damme State Park is the perfect beach spot where you can learn more about the area via kayak tours. MacKerricher State Park is set in the headlands and was once part of the Mendocino Indian Reserve. Visit one of Mendocino’s State Parks to truly experience the serenity of Northern California.
