Mendocino Tours
An exciting variety of Mendocino Tours suitable for any age or level of physical activity can be found in Mendocino. Which one to choose depends on the sights you’d like to see!
An interesting choice to begin with is the Skunk Train, named in the 1920’s for the smell of its original gas engine cars. The tracks run 21.3 miles from nearby Fort Bragg to Northspur at a leisurely pace suitable for photography or observation from the uncovered cars. The surrounding scenery is also good for picture-taking: as the train passes through the Noyo River Canyon, trees that easily dwarf the train tower overhead while the train passes over a river. A round trip takes 3.5 to 4 hours.

Afterwards, while you’re still in Fort Bragg, you can visit the Thanksgiving Coffee Company, which makes coffee from small farms in Guatemala, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda and Nicaragua. A tour of their roasting facility includes an informative tasting and a drink in one of their keepsake mugs. Reservations are advised.

If you’d prefer to stay closer to Mendocino, a guided kayaking trip through the sea caves in Van Damme State Park is another great option. The park’s protective channels provide shelter from waves, allowing you to look for seals, sea stars and other marine species without distraction. No prior experience or skills are necessary!
