At the Inns of Glendeven in beautiful Mendocino, our guests have a sense of adventure. Whether it’s a romantic getaway for two or a family-fun vacation, they always find exciting, memorable activities in Northern California. From horseback riding and boating to dining and shopping, this area has it all – you’ve just got to make the trip! After a restful night’s sleep in one of our luxurious rooms, you’ll be ready to take on the day. Here are some of our guests’ favorite things to do in Mendocino.

Take a Sea Cave Tour

During this once-in-a-lifetime excursion, guests can take a guided tour by kayak through the caves of Mendocino. You’ll have a smooth ride alongside harbour seals, starfish, and birds as you paddle through this incredible and diverse habitat. The tour leaves out of Van Damme State Park and will journey through narrow coves and passageways that will lead to three immense caves. All levels of kayaking skill are welcome to experience the Pacific like a California native.

Walk the Glass Beach

Believed to have the highest concentration of sea glass in the world, the Glass Beach is a must-see for Mendocino Coast visitors. There, you’ll see several coves dazzling with huge amounts of sea glass that have been smoothed and polished by the ocean waves. You can find pieces of various colors and shapes, and may even see some that look like gemstones. Rare sea treasures and irreplaceable memories make traveling to this unique beach one of the best things to do in Mendocino.

Climb a Lighthouse

At Point Arena Lighthouse, you can climb 115 feet to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Pacific Coast. The hike is worth it, because once at the top, you’ll have a panoramic view of the California coast and will be surrounded by complete serenity and peace. You can also take a guided tour of the light station museum or visit the gift store, where you’ll find exquisite jewelry and artwork created by local artists. The lighthouse is the perfect place for exploring, sightseeing, and taking awesome photos!

Attend a Wine Festival

Each March, the annual Pinot Noir Festival takes place in Anderson Valley and is an event that’s cherished by our wine-loving guests. At the festival, you’ll be able to experience some of California’s finest wines made from locally grown grapes. There will also be a social barbeque, wine tasting, and open-house tours at various wineries. For more information on the festival and other valley events, check out our blog about Anderson Valley Wineries.
